How To Add A Modern Antique Look To Your Photos Using Paint Shop Pro 9

Sometimes plain photos can be boring and unpleasing to the eye. This simple tutorial will teach you how to turn your boring photo into a beautiful, modern, antiqued photo. Don't worry, there will be no headaches here. If you don't have Paint Shop Pro 9 and want to give it a shot you can download a free trial here.

First you should find a photo that you like and bring it up in your Paint Shop Pro 9 program. Once you have found the perfect photo, you want to go to Layers>>New raster layout. When the prompt appears click "OK".

Next you want to go to the fill option, (should be a little bucket on the left panel). Chose #edd139 as your color and fill the new layout. Now you want to go up to Layers>>Properties. In this window you will want to set the blend mode to 'Overlay' and the opacity to 43. When finished click the "OK" button to close to window. On the right side panel there should be a section that says "Layers". Right click on "Raster 2" and go to Merge>>Merge down.

Now you want to create another new layer, and this time fill it with the color #ee8e38. Go back to Layers>>Properties and set the blend mode to 'Color' and the optacity to 31. Once again click on 'Raster 2" and go to Merge>>Merge down.

Once again (sorry for being so repetitive!) create a new layer and fill it with the color #ef3767. Go to Layers>> Properties and set the blend mode to 'Hue (Legacy)' and the opacity to 24. Once again merge "Raster 2" down.

Lastly you want to click on Adjust>>Brightness and Contrast>> Brightness/Contrast. When the window opens you want to set the "Brightness" to 13 and the "Contrast" to 21. (Aren't you glad I didn't make you add yet another layer?)

There you go! You have made a oh-so-beautiful photo in (hopefully) less than ten minutes! Enjoy; don't forget to show and brag to your friends!
